Aora México’s Extremely Hot Lip Serum Now Has an Icy Flair

Unfortunately for many, the oxymoron “icy hot” is learned early on in life, post sports injury or a juvenile backache. It would be much more fun if we were able to wait a few years and discover it, when the hottest, coolest solid lip product hit the market.

Who can complain, though? At least we have it now.

On August 11, Aora Mexicó is launching Acaríciame Más Cristal, a transparent version of their beloved chili-infused solid lip serum made for people that appreciate all the physical heat of the product but could do without the visible tint. Keep reading for all the details on the launch, including insight from the brand’s founder.

The Inspiration

To anyone that doesn’t feel like cloaking their pout in a sheer red tint on a day-to-day basis, I’d first like to say live a little. Live más!! But also, that’s perfectly fine. There’s an option for you now, too.

“Our Acariciame Mas Rojo is a bestseller, yet we knew that red was sometimes intimidating. Little did everyone know that this red was sheer, buildable, and so wearable!” Nour Tayara, CEO of Aora, tells Byrdie exclusively. “Still, we wanted to bring the heat of chile, the tingle of hot sauce, and the magic of this spicy plumping technology to everyone!”

Thus, Tayara and his co-founder, Rodrigo Peñafiel, gave themselves a challenge: “What if we created the most invisible formula possible?”

“That is how the idea of creating a crystal clear formula came to be,” he explains.

The Formula

Aora describes their viral spicy lip serum as “hot like Mexico”—a fitting callout for the CDMX-based brand. Its five-chile infused formula is “safely stimulating,” offering hydration to your pout while amplifying the look and feel of your lips and leaving behind a non-sticky, gloss-like finish.

“Achieving a formula that is hydrating like a solid serum, plumping and spicy, while remaining transparent was an incredible feat,” notes Tayara. “To pack this many skincare ingredients to justify being a solid lip serum, and to pack this many chiles (five in total!) to spicy up the lips and plump with volume, and yet look like a transparent magnifying glass.”

Like all of Aora’s offerings, the serum’s packaging is 100% metal and actually plastic negative, meaning they remove more plastic from the environment than they produce or consume. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist and allergy tested. And don’t worry, the brand is also launching a silver version of their 100% leather chile charm and carrying case to match the new balm.

How to Use It

Tayara has a couple favorite ways to wear the formula.

“It’s super glossy and shiny, and the formula’s heat makes the lips sweat a little, so they look extra wet,” he explains. “I think the best way is to wear it alone, but sometimes it’s really nice to take our lip liner Hablame and outline the lips a bit first, even fill them for some coverage, and then apply Acaríciame Más Cristal right after.”

It’s a lesson in spicing things up—and keeping things cool—learned at just the right time.
