Ariana Grande's "Holiday Barbie" Ponytail Is As Bouncy As They Come

What a doll.

If your Holiday Barbies are still in their boxes, here's the recognition you've been waiting for: That took a lot of self control, and I'm impressed. Also, you can keep them there—there's a much more interesting living doll walking around Los Angeles right now that we can turn our attention to.

On December 17, Ariana Grande arrived for a luncheon celebrating Golden Globe Awards first-time nominees at The Maybourne in Beverly Hills. For the event, she combined her recent Glinda-inspired style with a classic Ariana hairstyle for an effect that was totally doll-like. The ponytailed Holiday Barbie 2024, to be specific.

The gravity defying 'do was the work of Grande's go-to hairstylist, Alyx Liu, who side parted her blonde locks before sweeping them back into a high ponytail (though not nearly as high as we've seen from her in the past). The updo was secured with more hair wrapped around the base of the pony for that classic, sleek look and—perhaps most importantly—the ends were flipped up so they stayed put in all their bouncy, charming glory.

Although Holiday Barbie's time in the spotlight was arguably more pronounced last year thanks to the Barbie movie, she'll forever be an icon. While discussing her timeless style with Byrdie, hairstylist Sophie Rose Gutterman recommended a classic high ponytail much like Grande's to pay homage.

“This playful yet powerful style will ensure you can party the night away and still look amazing,” she said, recommending the purchase of a ponytail extension to get all that extra oomph.

Though Liu holds the secrets to Grande's own oomph (wouldn't you love to see inside that kit?), we do have some hints at other aspects of her glam. While we know R.e.m. Beauty is bound to make an appearance on the actor's face, her makeup artist Michael Anthony also posted an array of Dior Beauty products on Instagram the same day he did her luncheon makeup. A fitting choice, as she was dressed in a 1959 Dior gown by Yves Saint Laurent.

With big, fluttery lashes and pale eyeshadow, the entire look was ethereal, but the best part might've been her super-glossy lips. If Anthony's snap is any indication, three shades of Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss—I spy a holographic shimmer, Pink Lilac, and Pink—were used to get her pout ultra-shiny.

In the end, Grande was the perfect Holiday Barbie—a character I wouldn't mind having in a Barbie movie sequel. But first, we can get excited for the next Wicked... and whatever merch Mattel decides to release alongside it.
