Chappell Roan will somehow never and always surprise us when it comes to beauty. Never, because we already know what she comes up with for any given event will be spectacular. And always, because even when we're expecting something amazing she finds a way to deliver in a fresh way.
Her most recent look, which came together for the Rabanne Fall RTW 2025 fashion show on March 6, offered a bit more surprise than normal. Though a signature campy, full-face makeup look was also present, it was the artist's hair that we couldn't stop staring at. Middle parted and worn in soft waves that flowed down her back, her famous copper locks had transformed into a brand-new, dark brown shade.

I know "Espresso" is Sabrina Carpenter's thing, but the pop girls might have to share? As it happens, it's the perfect word to describe the specific brunette shade that Roan's glam team came up with. Set against her stark white face makeup, the color looked pretty dark, though certainly not as dark as her heavy black eyeliner.
The very same day she showed off the color, she also attended the Rick Owens show with her red hair as fiery as ever. Thus, I have to imagine the dye wasn't permanent. A spray, perhaps? A wig?

If you look closely, you can even see touches of dark auburn in her strands, leading me to believe that the red is right under there, ready to be rereleased into the wild as Paris Fashion Week comes to a close.
Chappell Roan's Natural Hair Color
No, Chappell isn't a natural redhead. She's not a natural espressohead, either. (In that way—I know she loves Carpenter as much as any of us.) In a December Instagram post, the 27-year-old shared some old photos from "before she dyed her hair red and became a demon." Though I definitely spy an auburn tint in some of the photos, the golden tones of her natural light brown hair shine through more thoroughly.

So... is a permanent color-change the next thing on the superstar's agenda? It could be! But I'm not going to get too excited. She already gives us so much, and it's best to just enjoy the visions as they come.
