Key Takeaways

  • Anne Hathaway showed off a new late summer nail trend, the “Coconut Jelly” manicure, at her “The End of Oak Street” premiere.
  • Discover how the sheer manicure came to be—and how to get it yourself.

Coconut is a flavor that translates well to many things: a fun drink, a curry, a chocolate-covered piece of dried fruit.

Or even (especially) a jelly dessert. Coconut milk and coconut meat both have a sheer, creamy quality that makes so much sense jiggling around in a layered piña colada jello shot or laying at the bottom of a boba cup.

Or honored via a “Coconut Jelly” Manicure, perhaps?

Ahead, discover everything there is to know about the most refreshing nail trend of Summer 2026.

The “Coconut Jelly” Nail Trend

The “Coconut Jelly” mani trend was named by celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, who designed a white jelly manicure for Anne Hathaway at The End of Oak Street’s Los Angeles premiere earlier this month.

Though they’re certainly related to the milky manicures that everyone has been loving for the last few years, Coconut Jelly nails are a little edgier. After all, what’s a cooler corner store pickup: a bottle of milk or an imported coconut water with pulp? Unless you’re Nicole Kidman in Babygirl or someone who really needs calcium, I’d go for the coconut water.

Where You’ve Seen It

Alongside Hathaway’s famous fingernails, we’ve seen Coconut Jelly nails popping up all over our Instagram feeds in recent months. Brooke Shields also wore a similar look a few winters ago, with her long almond nails featuring a jelly-like white polish that really did give coconut.

Part of the fun here is seeing how the look has transitioned from the colder months to the heat of summer. The iciness fits in just as well when we’re in need of a bit of humidity-induced refreshment.

Get the Look

In his Instagram post detailing Hathaway’s manicure, Bachik shared that he got the look by prepping the actress’s nails with his go-to Tweezerman x Tom Bachik tools. Then, he painted on Essie’s Nail Art Studio Jelly Gloss Polish in Arctic Jelly.

If you have access to a UV lamp, Gelcare’s Coconut Milk is also a great option. Paint on a few coats to get the right opacity, then finish things off with a glossy top coat and hit the road (by which I mean the movie theater with good A/C, purse stuffed with a still-sealed coconut jelly bubble tea to pair with your perfectly salty popcorn).
