Key Takeaways

  • Dior Backstage’s newest release, Dior Backstage Glow-Up Skin Tint, is available now.
  • The three-in-one makeup, skincare, and SPF features fragmented collagen to support your skin from the inside while evening out the complexion.

It’s no secret that one of the easiest ways to gain access to the world of many iconic brands is through their beauty offerings. I may not be rocking the Sex and the City-famous Dior Newspaper Dress on the daily, but every time I swipe on my beloved Lip Maximizer Gloss I still feel a transformation take place. The world—and my lips—are a little prettier.

Dior Backstage adds another level to this (necessary) connection. Conceptualized by Dior Makeup’s creative and image director, Peter Philips, the line of ultra-intuitive products was born behind the scenes at the brand’s runway shows. It’s proved its necessity on the faces of both red carpet and photoshoot-bound celebs and wannabe Dior girls who want a really good product that already makes them feel a little chicer every time they pull out the compact.

The Inspiration

Like the rest of the line, the new tint was inspired by Philips’ experience backstage at runway shows.

“Glow-Up Skin Tint introduces an innovative makeup concept that goes far beyond the spirit of a fluid foundation: it really is a ‘skin tint’,” he explained in a press release. “Its ultra-buildable natural coverage and its perfecting, plumping filter effect reveal skin that looks truer to life and even more beautiful than nature intended. This unique soft glow enhances the show looks and really highlights what we’re all looking for: ‘my skin, but better.’ ”

The Formula

Available in 24 adaptable shades that were made to offer any skin tone a “customized” soft glow, these light, bouncy SPF 20 tints are infused with two types of pearls “that combine to diffuse a colorful gleam that illuminates every skin tone.” There’s also a blurring gel that offers a smoothing, plumping filter effect and optical fillers to help smooth out visible imperfections.

However, the hero of the formula is actually fragmented collagen.

“Glow-Up Skin Tint is the first foundation ever infused with fragmented collagen. By combining the best of makeup with the best of skincare, it is established as a complete, professional, complexion expert, which transforms the skin instantly and lastingly. It’s a daily makeup essential,” shared Philips.

They’re easy to apply with your fingertips or a brush, and—thanks to the addition of a polymer duo—they promise to perform regardless of rain, spotlights, or humidity for up to 24 hours.

The Review

“After wearing full-on foundation for years, I’m officially in my skin tint era, and this one is a welcome addition to my makeup bag. Starting with the obvious here, the packaging is really so cute and makes me smile, and I get excited to pull it out of my makeup pouch. This is the perfect product as we move into cooler weather, as it has more of a satin-natural finish than the name suggests, which I always like heading into fall.”

“But don’t worry, it has plenty of luminosity to it, just more of a blurring soft-glow effect than a creamy dew. It doesn’t settle into dry patches, and provides light coverage that can be built up to the lower end of medium—my skin looks super even and smooth, but if you look closely you can still see a little post-acne redness on my chin. It has a featherlight formula that blends quickly and feels like nothing on the skin, and doesn’t budge once applied. I wear shade .5N, which is a touch light right now but will be my perfect match once the remainder of my summer tan goes.” —Bella Cacciatore, senior news editor
