Multitasking beauty products will always pique my interest, and the new Lassi Lips Lip Staining Pencil by Kulfi Beauty is no exception. As a lipstick enthusiast, I’ve been pairing my lip looks with liners for years, and with too many pencils to count, I never run out of lip combo ideas. While a lip liner that leaves a transfer-proof, unique-to-you stain wasn’t on my radar, I’m awfully glad it is. Will the Lassi Lips pencils deliver on their promise of defining lips for six hours before turning into a 10-hour stain? Keep reading for my full review.
About My Lips: Relentlessly dry and chapped
Even though my lips are chronically chapped and in desperate need of moisture, I’m a huge fan of creating different lip combinations and enjoy how they complement my overall makeup looks. With multiple balms on hand at all times, I try to keep my lips as hydrated as possible. My favorite lip balms at the moment are by the brand Ghlee; they add moisture to my lips without feeling too greasy or looking too shiny.
When I do create a lip look, I tend to use a pencil and lip oil or lipstick. Though the color may change, I tend to gravitate towards the MAC Cosmetics Cork lip pencil or the Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in Limitless Brown. I was excited to see how Kulfi Beauty's Lassi Lips liner would compare to my go-to options, especially given the promise of a lasting stain.

The Product: Creamy, full-coverage pencil that leaves lips with pigment
Following the popularity of Kulfi Beauty's Lassi Lips Staining Lip Oil, the Lassi Lips Staining Lip Liner is the first hybrid of its kind, leaving lips pigmented and defined. Coming in retractable packaging with a sharpener on the end, the pencil is formulated with vitamin E and peptides for smoother-looking, hydrated lips. Its creamy, easy-to-blend texture also prevents bleeding and feathering for six hours. Over time, the pencil subtly fades into a unique, transfer-proof 10-hour stain.

How to Apply: Use alone or with other lip products
The Lassi Lips liner is fairly straightforward and similar to other lip pencils, but Kulfi does have a few helpful instructions to get your application right. To create a defined lip, the brand recommends gliding the pencil along the outline of your lips, following the natural border for a subtle look or over-lining for extra volume. Kulfi suggests pairing your outline with a lip product in the center, or filling in your lips entirely with the Lassi Lips pencil and layering a lipstick on top for a look with more depth and dimension.
The Wear Time: Long-lasting and smudge-proof
The Lassi Lips pencil is so buttery and creamy that you would think it couldn't have great wear time, but that’s untrue. Using the pencils in shade Chori Chori to fill my lips in and Swoon to outline them, my application lasted for several hours without needing a single touch-up. The only times the lip pencil didn’t wear as well were when I was eating, which, in my opinion, is to be expected. I’d prefer my application to fade rather than have my lips look splotchy and textured.

When I would let the lip pencil fade, my lips had a lovely, soft pink hue, which reminded me a lot of a lip blush effect—which is something that Kulfi says the Lassi Lips pencils pay homage to. I noticed that each time I let the lip pencil fade and reapplied it, the stain on my lips became increasingly pigmented. The stain itself lasted very well, but once I used makeup remover, it disappeared after a few wipes.

The Final Review: Comfortable and long-wearing
Since I know what I like, I tend to be particular about the lip pencils I use. I’m looking for something that has enough slip and playtime for great definition, is easy to blend, and wears for hours without worrying about patchiness or flaking. Thankfully, the Lassi Lips pencil checked off every box.
The liners were smooth and easy to use—making my application free of any tugging—and they remained creamy enough for me to blend out until I was happy with the results. The pencils also dried to a comfortable, soft matte finish that didn’t exacerbate the dryness of my lips. Instead, my lips had a soft, velvety look that I appreciated. Although a staining lip pencil isn’t something I’d reach for daily, I still enjoyed my experience with the Lassi Lips Lip Staining pencils, and I know these will be an instant must-have for those who love multi-use products.
