Key Takeaways
- Lady Gaga wore a gigantic blonde bouffant to a Netflix event on May 31, where she posed in a velvet coffin with Jenna Ortega.
- The bright hairstyle and her dramatic makeup bring up the relationship between darkness and light that her hairstylist, Freddie Aspiras, discussed when she played Coachella earlier this year.
On June 1, I woke up to the news that Lady Gaga had transformed her famous head with a gigantic blonde bouffant the night before. And I'm not sure Pride Month should kick off any other way?
Though little monsters know that a Gaga hair transformation isn't a rare occurrence, there's still something special about seeing the pop legend do it up. Especially because her latest looks have mostly revolved around dark blunt bobs with bangs and intricate gothic updos.

This time, doing it up meant puffing out her locks (the translation for the French word "bouffante" is "puffed out") in a sculptural style that made use of her platinum blonde hair's major shine. Starting at the top of her forehead, the 39-year-old's blonde strands were teased to the heavens—I'm sure they rose like eight inches from her scalp—as she posed with Jenna Ortega in a purple velvet-lined coffin at Netflix's Tudum event. She also showed off the style for her performance of "Zombieboy" during the event.
See! I told you this was special.

The white-blonde hair color Gaga was rocking matched her bleached brows, and pale face makeup mixed with a heavy eye and smeared blood-red lipstick on one corner of her mouth only made the shade appear brighter.
The style sort of served as its own halo, while the makeup was very Sinners. Earlier this year, when she appeared at Coachella and had another major hair transformation during her headlining set, Gaga's hairstylist Freddie Aspiras said he wanted to share a story about how the dark and the light always coexist.

"I wanted the hair to speak to duality—the tension and harmony between darkness and light," he said. One look was "rooted in gothic structure" while the other was "a contrast in softness."

Aren't you seeing that theme play out here, too? So smart, so fun, and so Lady Gaga.
