Fashion girls have been asking the Oscars for one simple thing: bring back the runway show format for the Best Costumes section of the night. The Academy has yet to give us exactly what we want, but we did get a step closer last night at the 2025 Oscars, as stars from nominated films took to the stage to pay homage to their costume designers. While Bowen Yang was the only one to show up in costume, Lily-Rose Depp, who was representing Nosferatu, presented while wearing a sheer Chanel gown, which was sort of a fashion show in its own right.

To compliment her vintage-inspired gown, Depp did an amped-up take on her signature smudgy eyeliner and elegant waves. Ahead, all the details on her showstopping look.

Depp has been experimental with her hair as of late, trying on looks like curly buns and braid crowns for her Nosferatu press tour. However, her look at the Oscars was a break from the gothic vibes, and she opted for full waves with a dramatic side part. "The inspiration for this look was classic Hollywood glamour, specifically 1940’s Hollywood stars Lauren Bacall and Veronica Lake," Depp's hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, tells Byrdie. “I was inspired by the modern glamour of Lily’s Chanel gown, wanting to add to the figure forming shapes with classic bombshell waves."
"For the movie premiere, we leaned into Nosferatu, however for the Oscars, we wanted her to go full movie star," he adds. "She wanted to feel elegant and timeless."

How to Get the Look
Scarlett relied Tresemme products to get the look, starting with the Extra Hold Mousse, which he applied on Depp's wet hair and blew dry with the Olivia Garden Super HP Hair Dryer and Ceramic + Ion Thermal Hairbrush. Then, he applied the Tresemmé A-List Collection Smoothing Cream which "left Lily’s hair moisturized and rejuvenated all evening long," and some Dry Texturizing Spray "which was key to adding volume and body to her look." He adds that "a good boar bristle brush and flat clips to help set curls" were some of his other must-haves for the night.

Then, he used the Olivia Garden Titanium + Ion Professional 1.25" Curling Iron to curl her hair towards her face in soft waves, working in 2" sections. After the hair set for a few minutes, he spritzed his brush with the A-List Collection Workable Hairspray and brushed through the curls to shape them. To finish the look, he used a little but of the A-List Collection Styling Stick on his fingers to help define and hold the waves before adding some more hairspray. "Before Lily hit the carpet, I sprayed the Tressemmé Signature Hair Fragrance for lasting shine and an irresistible scent."
Her Signature Makeup

"If it's not broke, don't fix it," is probably what was going through Depp makeup artist Nina Park's heads, as they stuck to the model's signature makeup look. Her complexion was the perfect example of the "cloud skin" trend; it was matte but not flat. A flush of pink blush accentuated those gorgeous cheekbones, and added a pop of color to her otherwise neutral look. Her brows were full and fluffy, and she wore just a touch of black eyeliner in a baby wing and along her waterline. The finishing touch was a cool brown lip liner, which perfectly highlighted her signature pout as she posed on the carpet.
