Makeup By Mario Is Launching His Easiest Eyeshadow Yet

Do you ever have an eyeshadow you absolutely love, but really wish it existed in shimmer format? It’s likely—especially because we’re living in an era of bolder, sparklier, and generally more fun makeup looks.

The good news is that the experts are taking note. Mario Dedivanovic has always had his finger on the pulse of his industry, and this summer he’s giving us what we want: his great cream eyeshadow, made glittery.

On August 8, Makeup by Mario is releasing The Soft Shimmer Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow—an easy to use formula that belongs on every party girl’s super messy vanity. Keep reading to discover everything there is to know about the launch from the founder himself.

The Inspiration

We’ve been saying for a while that party girl makeup is back. Mario is seeing this, too. But returning to maximalist makeup doesn’t mean we have to turn back time to the formulas of yesteryear. We already love the brand’s cream eyeshadows... so why not make them shimmery?

“The response to our Master Mattes Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadows inspired this iteration,” explains the artist. “My community loved the formula, so I wanted to expand the collection into more shades. I especially loved the idea of offering a new shimmer finish for effortless day-to-night looks. I’m always excited to translate my artistry into products that are effortless and perform beautifully, whether you’re a pro or a beginner.”

The Formula

Made to be worn alone or layered with other shades for a sculpted look, these shadows feature appearance-smoothing amino acids and spherical powders that provide a soft and silky feel that adheres to your skin. If you so choose, you can even use them as a base under powder shadow.

“I love how the formula combines ease with performance. It feels weightless and silky on the lid, blends beautifully, and creates a softly diffused finish while still offering dependable, long-lasting wear,” says Dedivanovic. “You can build them in soft layers to create a light-to-intense shimmer.”

They’re crease-proof and sweat- and humidity-resistant to last you far past the afters, and available in eight earth-tone inspired shades: Bronze Baddie, Brown Sugar, Mauve Magic, Fizzy Fig, Plum Pewter, Ballet Blush, Pink Pearl, and Honey Crystal.

“I approached the shade range with versatility in mind, balancing warm and cool tones that complement a variety of complexions and looks,” adds the artist. “The colors are soft and provide noticeable dimension without feeling overly intense. They can also be layered depending on the desired effect.”

How to Use Them

Are you ready for your party girl moment? (Even if that just takes the form of a mid-afternoon shimmer look?)

“For quick application, use the doe-foot to swipe the eyeshadow onto the lid and blend out the edges by tapping out with your fingertip,” says the founder. “If you prefer to use a brush, my E3 Brush creates the same effect, and you can also use it to build up the look by concentrating the eyeshadow at the base of the lashes and blending up and out.”

“When it comes to eyeshadow, I’m a one and done kind of gal. I don’t usually reach for the product, save for a wash of shimmer on a night out, and Mario’s latest offering is exactly right for that scenario. They couldn’t be easier to apply—the formula sits somewhere between a liquid and a cream, allowing for precise application that doesn’t run or drip. It dries down to a silky shimmer-suede finish, and doesn’t feel thick or gloppy on the eyes. I’m wearing the shade Pink Pearl, which as the name suggests is a wash of pearly shimmer, while the darker shades have some ultra-fine glitter flecks.
