Mandy Moore's Moody Lipstick Is the Most Unexpected Summer Inspo

We were lucky enough to have a major Mandy Moore renaissance when This Is Us was airing, but I don't think we've been seeing the actress enough in more recent days. I know the 41-year-old is busy with her adorable babies and is still staying booked and busy, but I can't help but want... Moore. Luckily, I've been listening to "Candy" a lot—which is always a pretty good indicator that she's going to appear and give her fans something sweet.

Appearing at the 2025 Peabody Awards on Sunday, June 1, the actress treated us to a moody makeup look. Her vampy, dark blurred lip matched her Bordeaux-shaded smoky eye and expertly applied blush. It's not the look you'd expect going into summer, but it's the look you're going to want.

Moore's deep mauve lipstick was a gorgeous color, but its blurred finish made it all the more special. Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher tells Byrdie that she used Armani Beauty's Lip Power Long Lasting Lipstick in Dark Mauve for the look. It also reminds me of Merit's Signature Lip matte lipstick; it's like a mix between the warm brown Equestrian and warm brick Court.

I also see similarities with Westman Atelier's Lip Suede Hydrating Matte Lipstick in the barolo red shade Lou Lou and Violette_FR's Bisou Balm in Mon Chéri. The sheer balm would give you a similarly blurred, albeit a bit more casual, look. You could also go to the Lady Gaga route and use a blush to achieve the finish.

The Rest of the Look

As mentioned, the rest of Moore's makeup had a similar brick red color scheme. Her eyes were brushed with a reddish shadow, made all the moodier by her lush eyelashes. A touch of blush and dab of highlight lit up her otherwise matte complexion.

To tie everything together, hairstylist Clara Leopard middle parted Moore's lob and straightened it so it fell sleek and shiny behind her shoulders. She was dressed in a pretty cream silk two-piece shift, and accessorized with a similarly silky turquoise purse and heels to bring a little more classic summertime color into the look.
