Key Takeaways
- On August 18, Phe Phe is launching their Bridal Capsule.
- Founders Brigette McHale and Danielle Pheloung told Byrdie all about the lace-heavy lineup, which arrives on the heels of Brigette’s own wedding.
I’m getting married next year, and as much as that day will be about me and the man I love, what I’ve learned throughout the planning process is that it’s also very much about me and my sister. After all, she’s going to be by my side as I get ready... and for the many conversations that happen beforehand about what I’m getting ready in.
Luckily for me, some beautiful brides—and beautiful sisters-of-the-bride—have set a gorgeous precedent. Earlier this month, influencer Brigette McHale (née Pheloung, who will always be known as @acquired.style), married Mitch McHale in a lovely Newport, Rhode Island wedding. Her twin sister, Danielle Pheloung, was by her side through it all, with both girls wearing custom getting ready looks by their brand, Phe Phe. Looks that future brides (and sisters of the bride! and anyone who loves pretty white lace!) will soon be able to shop themselves.
On Tuesday, August 18, Phe Phe is officially launching their Bridal Capsule. The lineup features a range of romantic sleep and loungewear pieces including slips, robes, lace separates (the brand’s beloved wrap top is making an appearance), plus a super sweet lace headband and hair roller set you can use to practice the bride’s perfect blowout.

While the founder’s wedding was obviously the starting point for the collection, the sisters never wanted it to feel overly traditional. They kept coming back to the idea of what they’d actually want to wear while getting ready—pieces that felt “romantic and special enough for that morning, but still very much like us and like Phe Phe.”

“We were drawn to vintage lingerie and old bridal dressing pieces, especially the femininity and delicacy of lace, but wanted to interpret those references in a way that felt much more modern, effortless, and wearable,” Danielle tells Byrdie.
A lot of the inspiration also came directly from the materials they were developing for Brigette’s own wedding wardrobe. Though she wore Vera Wang for the big event, her June civil ceremony look was custom Phe Phe.
“The custom lace we created for my church ceremony dress became such a big part of the design process that we loved the idea of carrying it through to the morning of the wedding as this subtle thread connecting the different moments,” the newlywed explains.
Ahead, the sisters tell us everything there is to know about the collection and the special day that inspired it.

How did you settle on the exact pieces for the capsule?
Brigette McHale: “We really designed around how we wanted to get ready that morning. For me, a slip and robe felt like the perfect combination: something beautiful and feminine for photos, but also comfortable and easy to actually spend the morning in.”

Danielle Pheloung: “We wanted my look to complement Brigette’s look without feeling like a matching set, so we introduced the blue. It gave my MOH look its own personality and felt so striking against Brigette’s ivory and lace in the bridal suite.”
BM: “We also always think about how something lives beyond one moment. Even while designing a bridal collection, we were asking ourselves, ‘Would we actually wear this again?’ That helped us edit the collection down to pieces that felt special without being limited to the wedding day.”

Knowing you were going to wear them on the big day, how did you want the pieces to make you feel?
BM: “I wanted to feel like myself. There are so many moments on your wedding day where you’re putting on something incredibly special or stepping into a very specific bridal look, so I loved that getting ready could feel a little more relaxed and intimate. I wanted the pieces to be comfortable enough that I could really live in them that morning, but still make me feel beautiful and excited when I looked back at the photos.”

DP: “For me, it was important that my look felt connected to Brigette’s but still had its own identity. The blue made it feel special and unexpected, and very Phe Phe. We’re sisters and we do so much together, but we also have our own style, so it felt fitting that the looks complemented each other rather than completely matched.”

Brigette’s civil ceremony dress was a Phe Phe creation. Did you want to bring any elements of that dress into the collection?
BM: ”Yes, and that was actually one of the most meaningful parts of it. We developed the lace specifically for my custom church ceremony dress, and we loved it so much that we wanted it to continue through my wedding weekend. We incorporated that same lace into the slip and robe I wore while getting ready on the morning of my wedding.”
Phe Phe
DP: “It created this really subtle connection between two completely different bridal moments: the church ceremony dress and this much more intimate, behind-the-scenes part of the wedding day. It also made the collection feel incredibly personal because the fabric has such a direct connection to Brigette’s own bridal story.”
Phe Phe
What’s your favorite thing about the collection?
BM: “Probably that it feels bridal without being confined to bridal. There’s so much sentiment behind the lace and the pieces because of how they were developed, but at the end of the day, they still feel like clothes we genuinely want to wear. We love that someone can buy a piece for their wedding and have all of those memories attached to it, but then find completely new ways to wear it afterward.”
Phe Phe
DP: “Seeing the pieces actually come to life on Brigette’s wedding morning was incredibly surreal. We spend so much time designing and talking about how something should feel, so having such a personal moment become part of the Phe Phe story was really special.”

Do you have any tips for styling the collection outside of the bridal suite?
BM: “This is honestly one of our favorite ways to wear it. We love taking something that feels delicate and feminine and styling it in a way that’s a little more unexpected. Danielle’s top with a great pair of jeans is probably our favorite—it immediately takes it out of the bridal world and makes it feel cool and effortless.”
Phe Phe
“You don’t have to be a bride to wear them, and you definitely don’t have to stop wearing them once the wedding is over. That versatility was something we wanted to build into the collection from the beginning.”
