Key Takeaways
- "Revenge" Eyeliner is super sharp, super dark, and super devastating for your enemies to see in action.
- The makeup trend is named after a Season 3 Euphoria look, and head makeup artist Donni Davy shared exactly how to recreate it.
They say revenge is best served cold, but that story doesn't really fit with the narrative we've been fed lately. You see, makeup formulas typically do their best work when kept at a stable room temperature, and the best revenge is actually a really, really sharp eyeliner wing.
Forget the revenge body (please, I beg of you); it's time to focus on Revenge Eyeliner. Ahead, discover everything there is to know about the trend—and how, to your enemies detriment, you can perfect it at home.
The "Revenge Eyeliner" Trend

"Revenge Eyeliner" was coined by Euphoria's head makeup artist, Donni Davy, who used the word to describe a look worn by Alexa Demie's character, Maddy, in Season 3, Episode 2 of the HBO show. The double-winged design was created by makeup artist Mara Rouse, who collaborated with Demie to "absolutely floor" Davy.
Maddy's double liner featured an ultra-sharp wing up top and super crisp line on the bottom.

Remember how they used to say "wing sharp enough to kill a man" on Tumblr? Revenge liner is that, but it isn't only for bad ex-boyfriends. In this case, it was a double-wing sharp enough to show your ex-best friend just how good your life is compared to her sad existence in the suburbs. Chilling.
Where Else You've Seen It
Maddy Perez has done a lot of great things for our world, but she didn't invent Revenge Eyeliner. I'm not sure who did, actually, but I have seen it plenty of other places.

I'm sure you remember the end of Grease, where good girl Sandy shows up in a leather catsuit and red lipstick to really prove a point to poor, fumbling Danny. She's wearing some sharp, black eyeliner in the scene, too.
One of the most famous female revenge movies ever, François Truffaut's The Bride Wore Black, also features great liner. And what about Funny Girl?! Fanny Brice showed all her mom's card friends what's she was capable of, and did it with a really crisp wing.

Get the Look
The key to perfecting Revenge Eyeliner is to get the sharpest edge of all time. Davy has invented the hack for that, and it comes via her Half Magic Beauty Magic Flik Eyeliner Pen, Flik Eraser Makeup Correcting Pen, and viral Wing Magician tool. Her brand sells the whole array as a set.
In another Instagram video, the artist shared a full tutorial for Maddy's look, which also featured a matte eyeshadow stick from Colourpop.
"Maddy Episode 2 was the pool scene where she sees Cassie for the first time in many years, and you know the impact needed to be dramatic," explains Davy in the clip. "
Dramatic it was! Now, let's all go seek some vengeance.
