Key Takeaways

  • Sabrina Carpenter is the star of Versace's La Vacanza campaign, and she majorly switched up her beauty look for the occasion.
  • She tried out super icy blonde hair and a vampy makeup look in the new photos.

The internet loves to unearth an old clip from Sabrina Carpenter's Disney days to shock and awe fans with her charming baby dance moves and line deliveries. They always hit, partly because the 25-year-old has done such a good job crafting her current pop star image. It can be confusing to see her in anything but a smart vintage reference and bouncy curls.

But have you seen the "Taste" music video? This girl loves to surprise us.

On Tuesday, April 29, Carpenter took to Instagram to post a set of photos. In the first pic, she looks... different. Her skin is pale white and possibly ice cold. Her eyes are still blue, but her lips changed color...

Sabrina Carpenter's Vampy Makeup

I'll say it, out loud. Or at least let one of the commenters on her post say it:

"Why did she become Bella Swan?"

Because her new Versace La Vacanza campaign called for it, of course. Shot by Carlijn Jacobs, the vampy images mark Carpenter's second campaign with the fashion house. This time around, they took a moodier approach, turning up the contrast for a selection of images that was as Twilight in overall color scheme as it was makeup theme.

This was most evident in Carpenter's bold lipstick. Gone was her classic nude lip combo (makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez previously told Byrdie that she often uses Armani's Lip Power as both a liner and a lipstick for the artist). In its place? A deep, dark purple that was paired with matching smoky shadow.

Sabrina Carpenter's Dark Brows

That wasn't the only change up. Instead of her normal soft brown color, Carpenter's brows were tinted a deep, dark shade that stood out against her white-blonde (again, that contrast!) hair.

"I have always felt empowered when wearing Versace. That is what Versace means to me; amazing clothes which empower individuals to express themself in so many different ways. This La Vacanza collection is exactly that and feels so free and exciting to wear," Carpenter explained in a blurb on the brand's website.

Sometimes, a girl has to express herself by going full Rosalie Hale.
