It's officially spring, which means it's time for spring cleaning. I'm assuming you have some freshening up to do around the house, and while you're at it you might as well give your split ends a good dusting, too.

Or you could just go for a full-on chop and exit the salon with a brand-new bob? You might as well, because if there's any time for a fresh start, it's now. Some other reasons to try the style: You'll know if you love it by summertime, if you don't your hair will be long enough for a ponytail once again, and everyone else is doing it. The experts told us.

Ahead, discover nine standout haircut trends for Spring 2026—bobs upon bobs (still) included.

Airy Bobs

The most popular cut right now has to be an airy bob.

"Spring 2026 hair is all about soft, lived-in luxury—effortless movement, dimensional color, and looking like your best self without trying too hard," says Paula Peralta, John Paul Mitchell Systems Artistic Director.

The expert notes that clients are bringing in references like Hailey Bieber’s undone lob and Sofia Richie’s quiet luxury layers. "Ask for movement, not bulk," she adds. "I always tell clients to say, ‘I want something that looks styled even when it’s not.’ And my biggest tip? Bring inspiration but let your stylist adapt it to you. That’s where the magic happens."

Heartthrob Hair

Falling in line with the aforementioned airy looks, Hearthrob Hair is just a little shorter. Think Gracie Abrams and Zendaya's bixies or Teyana Taylor's pixie. The boys are getting in on the trend, too, with mod cuts aplenty.

"It’s less about a perfect cut and more about how the hair lives and moves," adds Peralta. Some people call that rizz.

Long '90s Layers

Not ready to let go of your lengths? Don't worry. Jamie Kottis, a stylist at Gem Salon in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is also anticipating a lot of long, '90s inspired layers in the near future.

"These are the long, soft layers that look lived-in when air dried and bouncy and fun when round brushed. Think Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Jennifer Aniston," she explains. "Extra points for an effortless scoop into a statement claw clip—because who has the time when you can just be timeless?"

Chin-Grazing Lengths

Okay, but we are going to go back to short cuts now. Don't act surprised.

"Bobs, bobs, and more bobs. Why mess with a classic?" adds Kottis. "Bobs are flirting with a grazing chin length, paired with a crisp line for a statement or softened up with delicate razored panels for graceful movement."

If you're already in the grow out stage, she adds that you can take things a step further and "nestle in that sweet spot between the chin and the clavicle for extra movement and pep." Prep the hair with a low-hold mousse and let it air dry, switching up your part depending on the vibes.

Organic Curls

Dusty Schlabach, an LA-based curl expert, is expecting a shift toward softer, more organic shapes this spring. These are cuts that will work with natural curl patterns "rather than forcing them into something overly sculpted."

"The biggest trend I’m seeing is a modern, lived-in curly shag with lots of movement, internal layering, and a shape that expands naturally rather than stacking weight at the bottom," he says. "We’re also seeing a return to rounder silhouettes that frame the face, especially on tighter curl patterns. The key difference compared to past trends is that stylists are focusing less on chasing 'perfect definition' and more on creating haircuts that still look beautiful once the curls separate, move, and evolve throughout the day.

When styling these cuts, less is usually more. "A small amount of Innersense Organic Beauty’s I Create Lift Volumizing Foam at the roots can help build airy volume, and a light mist of the brand’s Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner keeps curls hydrated and flexible," he adds. "One of the best finishing techniques is simply shaking the hair out once it’s dry. Curls naturally want to separate and expand, and allowing that movement is often what gives curly hair its most modern, natural and effortless look."

Soft Shags

Modern, softer shags are also in season. These looks are textured but a bit more wearable than their super rock-and-roll predecessors.

"It’s less about a perfect cut and more about how the hair lives and moves," explains Peralta. "Clients want hair that grows out beautifully and doesn’t feel high-maintenance, so they have room to style and switch up."

Karen Miller, Celeb Stylist and Director of Styling at Spoke & Weal Salons, adds that these shags feel more controlled—with a heavy emphasis on the bangs.

"It’s not about playing it safe and more about committing to a shape that stands on its own," she explains, citing Suki Waterhouse, Miley Cyrus, and Halle Berry as references.

Intentional Chops

Though the shapes are softening, Miller says that cuts are feeling more intentional these days.

"There’s a return to more artistry, shape, and point of view. While these styles are fun, they are also intentional, strong, and confident. They differentiate and transform," she adds.

Bangs That Move

In line with the intentional haircuts, Miller says bangs are becoming more customized and "designed to move." And yes, you'll be seeing them parted to the side.

"Fringe is lighter and more personal than the curtain bang that came into style in the last few years," she says. "For fringe, center parts are still dominant, though we’re going to see more side parts return with bobs and longer hair."

Severe Baby Bangs

Feeling bold? Well, good. You're in the right timeline, and are going to love this fringe trend.

"Sharp, severe baby bangs are making a comeback," says Kottis. "They're the quickest way to fake it till you make it—if the bangs are sleek, everything else will fall into place."
