YSL Beauty
What do me, Slayyyter, and Charli XCX have in common? Well, the latter two actually have a lot to talk about (real ones know they have a song together). Where do I fit into the equation? I, too, like glowing skin, weightless coverage, and a cute pink branded compact that I can throw in any of my many tiny little purses. I am of course talking about the fact that we're all fan's of YSL Beauty's brand-new foundation, the Skin Affair Soft Glow Cushion Foundation.
Just in time for summer, YSL is stepping into the cushion foundation game with its latest launch. The Skin Affair Cushion Foundation, which promises a super-soft glow and undetectable coverage, officially drops May 29, but I've already made it a part of my summer routine. Ahead, everything you need to know about the launch, plus my honest review.

The Product
Cushion foundations have been popular in Korea for years, but YSL is one of the first luxury brands to bring the format stateside. For the unfamiliar, a cushion foundation comes in a compact like your favorite powder—YSLBeauty's happens to be a beautiful quilted pink—that houses a sponge or net filled with foundation. They're usually beloved for their natural coverage, since the "puff" applicator encourages super light application.
YSL Beauty
The Skin Affair Soft Glow Cushion foundation is no different. It offers sheer, radiant coverage that can be built up to a full-coverage finish if you so chose. It's also infused with skincare like squalane, polyglutamic acid, niacinamide, and jasmine petals for both instant and lasting hydration and moisture. The foundation comes in 31 shades, and is available in a refillable version so you can keep the cute compact forever.
My Review
I love cute pink things and glowy coverage, so I was pretty sure I'd like this launch before I even tried it on. My hunch was correct—this is an instant add to my summer makeup bag. The foundation has a serum-like texture that was so easy to tap on with the included sponge puff. As I blended it out—I prefer to use a brush, though the brand recommends the puff—I was immediately struck by both the lightweight feel and instant glow. One layer gives you a barely-there look, my skin is currently misbehaving so I used about three layers, and I'm really happy with the coverage level. It hides my chin acne nicely (I added a touch of concealer on top) but it still looks like my skin. On better skin days, I can totally get by with one.
Bella Cacciatore
Usually by the end of the day I look a little crusty, but this held up well, even in the humidity. And despite the aforementioned chin acne, I got compliments on my skin. One word of warning—it is quite fragranced, so if you're sensitive maybe steer clear, but I found it fine once it was actually on my skin.
I'll be tossing it in my purse all summer long for glowy skin days ahead.
